Location: Hortons Creek, South-west of Nymboida.
Objectives: To study the bird life of Sub-tropical Rainforest, regenerating rainforest and Wet-sclerophyll Forest to ascertain:
1) population demography
2) movement patterns
3) morphometric data
Methods: The main method for trapping is the use of mist nets.
Site Description: The study site is situated on the junction of Clouds Creek and Hortons Creek with an altitude of 250m and rises to the west up to 521m. The Grafton to Armidale road (Main Road 74) passes through the site. The project area encompasses the Hortons Creek Nature Reserve (Dedicated 25th June 1993).

Vegetation: There are five distinct vegetation types and twelve suballiances and associations can be found in the study site:
1) Subtropical rainforesta) Black Booyoug, Stinging Tree and Fig suballiance.
b) Red Cedar, White Cedar and Bumpy Ash suballiance.2) Dry rainforest
a) Hoop Pine and Shatterwood suballiance.
b) Grey Myrtle and Lilly Pilly suballiance.3) Wet sclerophyll forest

c) Grey Gum, White Mahogany and Tallowwood association.
